Grey Area - Tryptych

Grey area is a digital triptych exploring contrasting internal states of mind through symbolic portraiture.

The left panel, "Slow Down" incorporates snails with negative space for bodies, acting as visual interruptions acting as speedbumps for the eye, the negative space symbolises the missing ability to stop or slow down during a manic episode.

The right panel. "Speed up" mirrors the structure of "Slow Down" but replaces snails for spiders, representing over stimulation, and tension.

The centre panel is a deliberate void between portraits. Titled grey area, it functions as liminal space between the emotional extremes, neither slow nor fast, but suspended in a middle ground, that feels numb. Nothingness. Empty.

The contrasting symbolism of the creatures introduces a tension. The consistent colour palette creates cohesion between the three panels. If taken together, this series forms a study of internal rhythm weight and balance and emotion
